Montana 89, N. Arizona 66
MISSOULA, Mont. (AP) _ Kristy Langton-Schlimgen led five Montana players in double figures with 21 points Wednesday night as the Lady Griz defeated Northern Arizona 89-66 in the Big Sky Conference opener for both teams.
Montana built a 45-34 halftime lead behind Jodi Hinrichs, who had 16 points and 11 rebounds before the break. She finished with 20 points and a game-high 14 rebounds.
Also scoring in double figures were Skyla Sisco with 18 and Sherri Brooks with 10.
Northern Arizona was led by Keturah Mattox, who had 15 points off the bench. Guards Amy Yanish and Shaunice Warr each scored 10.
NAU’s leading rebounder was Karlie Rikli with eight.
NAU started strong and led by as many as three points early but Montana was never threatened after that. UM’s biggest lead of 27 points came on a free throw by Catie McElmurry with 1:38 left in the game.
Northern Arizona dropped to 7-5 for the season and 0-1 in league. Montana moved to 11-4 overall and 1-0 in Big Sky.
