Devils defeat Lake Havasu
MOHAVE VALLEY — The Dust Devils topped the Lake Havasu High School Knights 65-55 at River Valley High School during the Arizona Interscholastic Association nonconference boys basketball game on Monday night.
Trevell Walker scored 20 points and Trevor Walker added 17 to lead the Dust Devils’s offense.
Sam Evans added eight point and Nathan Vargas chipped in six for the victors.
“River Valley played the best game it has ever played on defense, had a lot of touches, a lot of steals,” said Dust Devils head coach Dan Powell by text message.
“River Valley came out firing and had an early lead and kept the lead during the whole game,” he said.
Powell added: “I’m proud of my players; they played great, hard and exciting basketball — (we’re) still unbeaten at home.”
The win improved the 3A West Region River Valley squad’s record to 3-7 overall, 0-1 in region, according to MaxPreps. The loss dropped the AIA West Valley Region Knights’ record to 6-8 overall, 0-1 in region.
Patriots 53, Sultans 27
BULLHEAD CITY — Josh Neil pulled down 17 rebounds, Zach Neil scored 16 points and Jacob Leslie added 11 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Patriots over the Bagdad High School Sultans during their Arizona Interscholastic Association boys basketball game at Mohave Accelerated Learning Center on Tuesday night.
“(We) dominated the rebounds,” said MALC head coach Joey Leslie by text message. “ We played a strong, steady game.”
MALC’s record is 9-6 overall, 6-0 in the AIA 1A West Region, according to MaxPreps. Bagdad is 4-8 overall, 2-2 in the AIA 1A West Region.
