No. 23 Arkansas 100, W. Illinois 49
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (AP) _ Karyn Karlin scored eight of her 19 points during a game-opening 21-0, and No. 23 Arkansas cruised to a 100-49 victory Sunday over Western Illinois.
Arkansas (9-1) held the Westerwinds scoreless for the first 7:20 before Carey Johnson hit her only basket of the game. Western Illinois (3-3) made less than 17 percent of its shots in the first half.
The victory was the third in five days and the fifth straight for the Lady Razorbacks, who take a week off before opening the Southeastern Conference season against No. 6 Tennessee.
Karlin, who has started every game as a freshman, also led the Razorbacks with 11 rebounds.
Five Razorbacks scored in double figures, including Shaka Massey with 17 points, Treva Christensen with 16, Kimberly Wilson with 14 and Christy Smith with 12.
Seniors Deidre LaFrance and Nikka Nohl had 12 points apiece for Western Illinois.
