We trust that board will protect Winona County
I am perplexed that we fail to call a factory farm a factory farm. I am astounded that an already massive Daley dairy operation would ask to increase their animal units by thousands while using a disproportionate share of water. I am dismayed that former Minnesota Pollution Control Agency Commissioner John Linc Stine and the MPCA would grant that permission despite the objections and request for an EIS query from so many.
Still, we have reason to be hopeful. The Winona County Board of Adjustments will meet on Feb. 21 at the Tau Center in Winona to review and rule on the variance. This five-member board has the responsibility to safeguard the people and resources of Winona County.
If you, too, are concerned about the social and moral implications of this variance, please address your written comments to Winona County Planning and Zoning with attention to the Board of Adjustments.
We trust that the Board of Adjustments will follow Winona County law.
