Police investigating possible homicide in Mount Vernon

August 27, 2018

MOUNT VERNON — Mount Vernon police arrested a man Sunday afternoon in connection with the death of a 27-year-old woman.

Mount Vernon police Lt. Chris Cammock said police were called about 12:15 p.m. Sunday to reports of a possible homicide at a residence in the 1200 block of North 18th Street.

The suspect, a 32-year-old man, had reportedly fled the scene with a 3-year-old child, Cammock said.

With assistance from the Burlington and Sedro-Woolley police departments, as well as the State Patrol, the suspect’s vehicle was located at the Cascade Mall in Burlington, Cammock said.

The suspect and the child came out of the mall, and the suspect turned himself in without incident, Cammock said.

The investigation is ongoing.
