UIW photo show honors founding nuns
The University of the Incarnate Word is hosting a photo exhibit, “The Word Lived in the Past: A Promise for the Future,” that looks back at the history of the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word. It’s on exhibit weekdays in the Kelso Art Center on campus.
In conjunction with that show, historian Gilberto M. Hinojosa will speak at 3 p.m. Thursday in the Mabee Library Auditorium on “For the Good of Others: A Brief History of the Sisters of the Incarnate Word in San Antonio.”
Hinojosa, a UIW professor emeritus, curated the photo exhibit. His talk will be followed by a drama on the beginnings of the congregation by one of its members, Sister Martha Ann Kirk.
