$1M bond set for woman accused in fatal shooting

CHESAPEAKE, Ohio — A $1 million bond was set Monday in Lawrence County Municipal Court for a South Point area woman charged with fatally shooting a man in the parking lot of a McDonald’s restaurant off U.S. 52 west of Chesapeake.

Belinda S. Adkins, 41, entered a plea of innocent to the first-degree murder charge Monday morning in a hearing before Judge Donald Capper.

Capper set a preliminary hearing for 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 4. The judge also appointed Roger Smith, a Huntington lawyer, to represent Adkins.

She is charged with killing Joshua C. Jones, 39, of South Point last week. She subsequently turned herself into authorities over the weekend and was taken to the Lawrence County Jail in Ironton.
