YOUTH LOCKUPS

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. _ Arkansas officials say a Nevada-based group recently awarded a nearly $16 million contract to run youth lockup facilities in the state is disqualified from winning the bid after violating the state’s request for proposal terms. The terms required that Rite of Passage have no terminations based on “nonperformance” in the past five years. UPCOMING: 250 words.

POLICE OFFICER SLAIN-ARKANSAS _ An August trial date has been set for a teenager charged with capital murder in the shooting death of an Arkansas police officer.

CHICKEN STRIPS-RECALL _ Arkansas-based Tyson Foods is recalling more than 69,000 pounds (31,297 kilograms) of frozen, ready-to-eat chicken strips because they may be contaminated with pieces of metal. AP Photos.

KANSAS STATE-TUITION _ Kansas State University is becoming cheaper for good students from five more states, including Arkansas.
