Florence man arrested following fatal weekend shooting
DARLINGTON, S.C. – A Florence man has been charged with murder following the Saturday night shooting death of a Florence man, according to Darlington County Sheriff Tony Chavis.
Dre Glorvun Nazier Hampton, 19, is accused of fatally shooting Jerome Jalik Robinson, 18.
Chavis announced the arrest Monday.
“Investigators went to work immediately collecting evidence and interviewing witnesses,” the sheriff said, according to a news release. “We quickly arrested this suspect because of the investigators’ diligent work, and I appreciate the assistance of the U.S. Marshals Service with locating Hampton.”
The shooting occurred at approximately 11:30 p.m. Saturday.
After he was shot, the Robinson was driven from the scene to a convenience store parking lot at the intersection of S.C. 340 and Hoffmeyer Road, according to the Darlington County Sheriff’s Office.
According to Chavis, investigators believe Hampton, while on Welling Farm Road, shot the victim with intent to kill and malice aforethought, causing the victim’s death. Investigators are seeking additional charges.
