‘Young Sherlock’ on stage at Shady Side Academy Middle School
Shady Side Academy Middle School students will take people on a trip back in time during the fall play, “Young Sherlock.”
Audience members will be transported to Butterworth Academy, where the young Sherlock Holmes and his classmate John Watson evolve into expert sleuths.
The play is free and will be performed at 7 p.m. Friday in the school cafetorium, 500 Squaw Run Road East, Fox Chapel.
The cast includes 23 students who follow a mysterious script of kidnapping, psychics, bumbling sheriffs and foiled crimes. The story launches Sherlock’s career as a detective who can solve crimes even before the police can.
Sixth-grader Jeffrey Brunner stars as Sherlock Holmes. The play is directed by English teacher Camille MacRae, and produced by music teacher Randy Broker and art teacher Stefanie Vorrasi.
Choreography is by eighth-grader Elizabeth Kamin and properties and technical direction are by seventh-grader Leo Rickard and eighth-grader Zach Kamenov.
