PAT NAPIER JR., 97, of Prichard, W.Va., entered his eternal rest on Sunday, October 7, 2018, in Parkview Nursing and Rehab Center, Pikeville, Kentucky. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, October 11, 2018, at Morris Funeral Home Chapel, Wayne, by Elders Arthur Mathis, Gary Blevins and Sam Frye of the Old Regular Baptist Church, at his request. Burial will follow in Sam Damron Cemetery, Ferguson, W.Va. He was born to the late Patrick H. and Tennessee Wooten Napier on March 17, 1921, at Brush Creek. He was a World War II veteran and a member of Elmwood United Baptist Church in Wayne, W.Va. Pat never met a stranger and lived by the scripture, “A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly.” In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 73 years, Ida Damron Napier; an infant son, Harold Napier; a grandson, Wendell Martin Napier; a daughter-in-law, Sally Napier; eight brothers, Albert, Boyd, French, Elzie, Tom, Brady, Henry and Walter; four sisters, Leona Ramey, Georgia Lovins, Mae Damron and Nancy Napier, whom died in infancy. Survivors include three sons, Garland and wife Ruby of Wayne, Leonard and wife Patricia, and Wendell, all of Prichard; nine grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a sister-in-law, Mollie Maynard; two brothers-in-law, Darrell Damron and wife Bertina, and Tommy Damron and wife Kathleen; a special friend, Geraldine Adkins; along with a great host of family and friends. Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, October 10, 2018, at Morris Funeral Home, Wayne, W.Va. Friends may also call from 10 a.m. until service time on Thursday at the funeral home. The family wishes to thank the staff of Huntington VA Medical Center and Parkview Nursing & Rehab Center of Pikeville, Kentucky, for their wonderful care.
