City of Nitro expands Get Out and Move program

NITRO, W.Va. — In a continued effort to assist citizens of Nitro and the surrounding areas to live healthier lifestyles, the city of Nitro has expanded its Get Out and Move physical fitness campaign.

Beginning later this month, a six-week nutrition and exercise class will be introduced.

The class, led by April Simpson, Adult Nutrition Outreach Instructor for WVU Extension, will be on Thursdays, May 30, June 6, June 20, June 27, July 11 and July 18. All the classes will be held at the Nitro Public Library, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Limited class spots are available, so anyone interested needs to register by May 23.

Class participants will learn to choose and prepare healthy foods for their family, save money at the grocery store, become more physically active, enjoy cooking demonstrations and food tastings and received free kitchen gadgets, recipes and other incentives.

The class is free to the public through the extension service.
