Iona 18, Siena 6

ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) _ Tom Proudian became Iona’s career passing leader Saturday night, going 31-for-57 for 370 yards and one touchdown in an 18-6 victory over Siena.

Proudian connected with wide receiver Brian Walker on an 11-yard pass play with 9:40 remaining in the game, giving him 7,384 yards passing, two more than Bill Hyland, who quarterbacked the Gaels from 1989-92.

Proudian held four school records going into the game _ all set against Siena in either 1993 or 1944: most passing attempts (69), most completions (38), most yardage (485) and most touchdown passes (six).

The Gaels (1-2, 1-1 Metro Atlantic Conference) led 18-0 at halftime.

Proudian connected with Billy Devito on a 25-yard scoring play in the first quarter and Devito ran in from the 4 in the second quarter. Michael Cordero had kicked a 20-yard field goal to make it 10-0.

Iona made it 18-0 when Siena quarterback Scott Riecke fumbled at his own 5 and it was recovered in the end zone by teammate Justin Cleveland.

Reggie Greene, Divison I-AA’s leading rusher entering the game, scored on a 17-yard run in the third quarter for the Saints (0-3, 0-3). He finished with 181 yards on 31 carries.
