McCaw in doubt for rest of Rugby Championship
WELLINGTON, New Zealand (AP) — All Blacks captain Richie McCaw may miss the remainder of the Rugby Championship after straining a knee ligament during his team’s 28-13 win over Argentina on Saturday.
McCaw left the field in the 60th minute of his 119th test, and New Zealand coach Steve Hansen said he was likely to be sidelined for four to five weeks.
Hansen said McCaw “might wake up in the morning and feel a lot better. But we’re not thinking it’s going to be like that. We might as well get it out now and get on with it.”
Chiefs flanker Sam Cane replaced McCaw during Saturday’s match and Crusaders openside Matt Todd is likely to be added to the All Blacks squad for Saturday’s match against South Africa at Auckland.
