Son held after deaths of parents in Southern California home
DIAMOND BAR, Calif. (AP) — A man whose parents were found dead after a fire at Southern California house has been taken into custody for questioning.
KABC-TV reports that 33-year-old Ryan Venti was taken into custody shortly before 8 p.m. Monday.
Investigators had said Venti has mental health issues and they considered him a person of interest in the deaths last week of 66-year-old Linda Venti and 75-year-old John Venti.
Firefighters went to the family’s Diamond Bar home before dawn last Friday. The bodies of the couple and their dog were found in a bedroom after the fire was doused.
That sparked a search for their son.
The cause of the couple’s death and the cause of the fire are under investigation. However, authorities say an accelerant such as gasoline may have started the blaze.
