2 Cops Treated For Smoke Inhalation After Fire
DURYEA — Two police officers were treated for smoke inhalation following a house fire Friday morning, firefighters said.
Authorities were dispatched to the home on Pettebone Street, with reports of smoke and flames visible from the roof and a possible victim trapped in the attic, according to the Avoca Fire Department.
Duryea police arrived on scene and searched the structure, ensuring no one was inside, firefighters said. Two officers subsequently had to be treated for smoke inhalation, firefighters said.
Local fire departments quickly knocked down the fire, limiting the scale of damage to the home, firefighters said.
The cause of the fire was not immediately known.
