Fishing and Columbus Days
The week before was a quiet time for fishing. The fish just had lockjaw, but this week showed promise with a range of different species. Taylor Losske was catching large mouth bass using plastic frogs with the largest four-pounds.
John Lovelss has been fishing for gar most of the year and this week John, who is turning 70 I believe, someone I’ve known my whole life, caught a 9-pound 5-ounce gar that was an impressive 47-inches long. He was using cut bait and again gar is good to eat, but just a little tougher to clean. they call the meat poop man’s lobster. He’s been catching them at Lake Babcock.
Another tasty fish (the walleye) Adam Brodecloy lands a 5-pound 8-ounce using aBrown and Gold Cacapa caught at Lake North.
This week is Columbus Days so go down town and enjoy the contest and games and food.
Don’t forget the turtle races and dog show that my brother always enjoyed.
Never seen him move so fast to get his jobs done to be able to get to the races.
