Teddy Bears May Become Fixtures in Patrol Cars
MORGAN HILL, Calif. (AP) _ Teddy bears may be added to Morgan Hill police cars to help soften hardened criminals and calm frightened children, officials said.
″I don’t particularly care for guns,″ said Mayor Lorraine Barke, who recently proposed the idea to the City Council. ″The teddy bear is a positive piece of equipment.″
The council has tentatively approved a measure that would put a teddy bear in every patrol car and undercover vehicle in Morgan Hill, located about 60 miles south of San Francisco.
The measure is expected to receive final passage next month.
