Mass. woman rescued after fall in NH mountains
BETHLEHEM, N.H. (AP) — A Massachusetts woman is recovering after a 15-foot fall in New Hampshire’s White Mountain National Forest.
New Hampshire Fish and Game says 46-year-old Mary Pierce was hiking to Zealand Falls in Bethlehem on Monday afternoon when she slipped and fell about 15 feet onto some rocks. Personnel from the Appalachian Mountain Club’s Zealand Hut were able to stabilize her injuries, and rescue crews from several organizations carried her down the 2.5-mile trail.
Pemi Valley Search and Rescue and Fish and Game conservation officers helped with the rescue. Pierce was taken to the hospital for further treatment.
