COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) _ Lawrence Funderburke had 20 points and 14 rebounds and Ohio State used a 19-shot advantage in free throws to beat the Russian national team 94-88 in an exhibition Tuesday night.
Ohio State also got 17 points apiece from Tom Brandewie and Doug Etzler, 15 from Alex Davis and 10 from Jimmy Ratliff.
The Buckeyes hit 32 of 46 29 free throws, including 14 of 17 down the stretch to keep the Russians at bay.
Igor Grachev had 25 points for the national team, which is 1-8 on its American tour.
Ohio State trailed 37-36 at the half, but took the lead for good with a 9-0 run midway through the second half. Davis touched off the surge with a backdoor layup, then Jamie Skelton hit a 3-pointer and Brandewie tipped in a 3-point miss by Skelton. Greg Simpson, Mr. Basketball in Ohio the last two years, then hit a free throw to make it 62-53 with 11:23 left.
