ST. LOUIS (AP) _ Ted White threw three of his four touchdown passes in a 26-point second quarter for Howard University as the Bison beat Arkansas-Pine Bluff 32-21 Saturday in the Gateway Classic.
White, who was intercepted four times one week earlier in Howard’s loss to Hampton University, completed touchdown passes of 21 and 7 yards to Ayub Abudullah and had a 12-yard scoring pass to Marion Ward in the second quarter for Howard (1-2).
White was not intercepted as he completed 14-of-25 passes for 267 yards, threw a 5-yard touchdown pass to Stuart Broome in the third quarter.
The Golden Lions (2-2) rallied with three touchdowns with Andre Tolefree scoring on a 6-yard run with 4:41 left in the third quarter.
Rod Robinson threw a 25-yard touchdown pass to Kevin Williams and Rahmel King scored on a 2-yard run in the fourth quarter as Pine Bluff scored the last three touchdowns in the game, but it wasn’t enough.
Howard overcame 15 penalties for 203 yards in the game.
