MORE HOLIDAY FESTIVITIES

Here’s a look at some other Christmas seasonal events happening this weekend:

The Lawrence County Festival of Trees and Christmas Market, sponsored by A&L Home Care and Training Center, LLC, will take place Friday, Nov. 16-Saturday, Nov. 17 at the Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce, located at 216 Collins Ave., South Point. The event is free and open to the public. Hours are 10 a.m.-9 p.m. Christmas trees decorated by area businesses and organizations will be on display and available for bid through a silent auction with all proceeds benefiting community development and student scholarships in Lawrence County. The outdoor Christmas Market will feature more than 20 vendors selling unique handmade and handcrafted items, food trucks and entertainment. Friday’s schedule includes: 3-8 p.m. live reindeer; 10 a.m.-9 p.m. Santa Claus; and 5-9 p.m. live entertainment. Saturday’s entertainment includes: 10 a.m.-9 p.m. Santa Claus; 1-3 p.m. Kids Day Activities including a magic show, balloon art, cookies and milk, visits with Santa and face painting. Admission to Kids Day activities is one can of non-perishable food, which will be donated to a local food bank. Activities are: 1-6 p.m. live reindeer and 3:30-9 p.m. live entertainment.

Also, from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday, local churches will be depicting scenes from the story of Christ during a drive-through Nativity. Admission is free, but donations are accepted and all proceeds go to Jeremiah 38 Ministries. These funds help us to spread the gospel at home and in South America with their missionary partners.

Mistletoe Market

Christmas is just five weeks away and the Christmas celebration season starts now. Get some local shopping done early for a good cause as the Junior League of Huntington presents the annual Mistletoe Market from 6 to 10 p.m. Friday, Nov. 16, at Ramada Limited Huntington, 3094 16th Street Road.

Tickets are $10 for general admission or $25 for VIP tickets. Sip a glass of wine and nibble on hors d’oeuvres while you shop our vendor’s booths. There will be talented local artisans and vendors with your favorite products. Funds raised support the Junior League’s efforts to improve our community. Tickets at www.jlofhuntington.org

ARTS Presents ‘A Christmas Carol’

ARTS had one of the first holiday productions out of the gates as kicked off the holiday season last weekend with “A Christmas Carol” at Southern WV Community and Technical College in Logan.

All polished up, the production heads into its second and final weekend with performances at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Nov. 16-17. There will also be a performance at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 18. For tickets or more information, call 304-688-2075.
