Boston Bar Foundation awards $950k for legal help to poor
BOSTON (AP) — The Boston Bar Foundation has awarded $950,000 in grants to 23 community organizations that work to provide legal services to low-income people.
The organizations administer legal aid to the homeless, domestic violence survivors, at-risk children and veterans.
Grant recipients include: Casa Myrna Vazquez, Boston’s largest provider of shelter and supportive services to survivors of domestic violent; Massachusetts Advocates for Children; Political Asylum/Immigration Representation Project; and Veterans Legal Services. Also receiving grants are: Prisoners’ Legal Services, the Massachusetts Law Reform Institute and Housing Families.
The Boston Bar Foundation is the charitable affiliate of the Boston Bar Association.
