Warriors top Cardinals to pick up first league win

LAKE MILLS — Alex Ryan struck out seven over six strong innings and Carter Schneider had three hits, scoring twice in the Lakeside Lutheran baseball team’s 7-1 Capitol North victory over visiting Columbus on Friday.

Schneider scored on a wild pitch in the fourth as Lakeside (5-6, 1-4 in conference) tied it 1-1.

Logan Pampel and Ryan scored on Schneider’s 2-run double to left an inning later. Schneider crossed home on an error to make it 4-1 Warriors.

Jacob Freson and Ryan had RBI singles in the sixth.

Nathan Chesterman went 2 for 3 with a double.

Ryan allowed two hits, walked one and gave up an unearned run.

Lakeside Lutheran hosts Johnson Creek on Monday in nonconference play beginning at 5 p.m.
