Crime scene specialist allegedly leaked confidential info
INVERNESS, Fla. (AP) — A former crime scene specialist has been arrested after authorities say she disclosed confidential information.
Citrus County Sheriff’s officials said Friday they’d arrested Ashley Pate but did not give details on her alleged crime, saying only that she violated agency policies including interfering with investigations, endangering others and associating with criminals. The 10-year veteran was fired from the agency earlier this month. The investigation is ongoing.
The 34-year-old Pate is charged with one count of disclosure or use of confidential criminal justice information. It’s not clear whether she’d retained an attorney who could comment on the charges.
Sheriff Mike Prendergast said in a statement that “her crimes could have led to serious injuries or death” for members of the agency.
