TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) _ Damon Bacote scored 19 points Monday to lead Alabama to a 105-72 win over Jacksonville State.

Jacksonville State (1-2) led only once, on the game’s first basket. But Neal Ashby’s dunk broke a 9-9 tie and opened an 11-0 run, giving the Crimson Tide (3-0) a 20-9 lead they never relinquished.

Jay Knowlton led the Gamecocks with 11 points, nine of those in the second half, and four rebounds.

The Gamecocks never got closer than a 29-point deficit, when the score stood at 69-40 early in the second half. Alabama’s largest lead came soon after, 77-40.

After that, Tide coach David Hobbs cleared the bench, with Alfred Moss’ jump shot leading them to the century mark.

Demetrius Alexander added 17 points for Alabama, and Brian Williams scored 14. Ashby scored 10 points, most of them on dunks using the Crimson Tide’s new ``alley-oop″ play, which coach David Hobbs introduced about two weeks ago.

The Crimson Tide outscored Jacksonville State 17-7 in the second half. Overall, the Tide shot 50 percent from the field to the Gamecocks’ 40.4 percent.
