Gun and Facebook threat to police lead to 5 years for felon
FLORENCE, S.C. (AP) — A convicted felon in South Carolina has been sentenced to five years in prison after authorities got a search warrant and found a gun in his home after he threatened to shoot police on Facebook.
Federal prosecutors say 38-year-old Anthony Hunt wrote on Facebook he had guns and was “Ready for War” with Horry County police in February.
Investigators looked at Hunt’s Facebook profile and found him posing with a handgun. His previous felony conviction makes it illegal for Hunt to own a weapon.
Prosecutors said in a statement that police got a warrant, searched Hunt’s Myrtle Beach home and found a loaded gun and the clothing he wore in the Facebook picture.
Hunt pleaded guilty to felon in possession of a firearm and was sentenced Tuesday.
