Sydney Huffman — Cross Country

Lake Havasu senior Sydney Huffman is in her first year of cross country and already has two wins under her belt.

Both of those wins came in the Mark Reynolds Invitational and Ray Reynolds Invitational, which both happened last week.

In the Mark Reynolds Invite last Saturday, Huffman finished in 21 minutes, 58 seconds to win it all by nearly a minute.

On Wednesday at the Ray Reynolds Invite, Huffman bettered her Saturday time by 30 seconds at 21:26.

“At first I was really shocked,” Huffman said about how she felt after winning her first race. “But I was just really happy that all my hard work has paid off. Winning again just proved that it was not a fluke and that I just have to keep pushing myself.”

Huffman’s personal record came this season in the Kingman Academy Invitational on Sept. 26 with a time of 21:56.5.

Spencer Marino — Cross Country

Lake Havasu senior Spencer Marino had his best week on the course last week.

At the Mark Weston Invitational Marino finished in 18 minutes, 41 seconds to mark his best finish of the season.

Marino also finished fourth overall in that race.

At the Ray Reynolds Invitational on ran his third best time of the season at 19:40.

“These past two races have been the best and most fun so far this season,” Marino said. “I guess I just kind of got a home field advantage. But then again, every year I do because these are my favorite races.”

Marino is also captain of the boys team this year after competing in cross country all four years of high school.

The Boys teams has won or took second in every race it has competed this season, except for one.
