Man shot multiple times in Waterbury

April 2, 2019

WATERBURY - Police are investigating multiple crime scenes after a man was shot several times Monday night but lied about where the shooting occurred, according to WTNH.

Officers responded to a report of gunfire on Welles Street at about 10 a.m. and found broken glass, spent bullet shell casings and witnesses who said there was shots fired and a car speeding away, WTNH said. But officers didn’t find a victim - until they received a second report that a male shooting victim was found on Porter Street, reports said.

The male victim and a woman who was with him both told police the shooting was on Bank and Porter Streets, which investigators later determined actually happened on Welles Street, WTNH said.

Police are still investigating. Anyone with information is asked to call detectives at (203) 574-6941 or Crime Stoppers at ‪(203) 755-1234.
