JAY DEMARCUS REVEALS BABY WAS GIVEN FOR ADOPTION

NEW YORK (AP) — Jay DeMarcus of Rascal Flatts wonders all the time what happened to the daughter he gave up for adoption. People magazine reports DeMarcus reveals in his new autobiography, “Shotgun Angels,” in his early 20s his girlfriend of one month got pregnant after they were intimate once. He says they had considered getting married and raising the child, but his girlfriend did not want anything to do with him. DeMarcus says, “Abortion was never an option, so we began to discuss adoption.” His mother offered to adopt the baby, but DeMarcus says the girlfriend did an outside adoption without allowing him to see the child. DeMarcus says the girl would be in her 20s now. He says the adoptive family was supposed to give her a letter when she turned 14 that said DeMarcus did not abandon her and wanted to be in her life. DeMarcus married Allison Alderson in 2004 and they have two children.

CARRIE UNDERWOOD’S “CRY PRETTY 360” TOUR BEGINS TODAY

NASHVILLE (AP) — When Carrie Underwood considered having only women open for her on her upcoming tour, she thought, “Can we do that?” It was that moment of thinking she couldn’t do that that made Underwood decide, “OK, we have to do this.” Maddie and Tae and Runaway June will be the warm-up acts on the tour, beginning tonight in Greensboro, North Carolina. Underwood says women should support each other and they can learn from each other. Besides, she says, it’s going to be a great concert, start to finish. Underwood says her goal is to have every person afterward saying, “That was the best show I’ve ever been to.”

WOODSTOCK ORGANIZER SAYS 50TH ANNIVERSARY CONCERT IS STILL A GO

NEW YORK (AP) — The organizer of the Woodstock 50th anniversary concert says he remembers the original Woodstock also had logistical problems. Michael Lang says in an email to “Woodstock Friends” that in July of 1969, they lost their site, which is how it got moved to Max Yasgur’s farm. Lang acknowledges that investor Dentsu Aegis Network’s Amplifi Live has pulled its financing for the Woodstock 50 concert, but he can’t understand why it said the festival was canceled. Lang says, “Woodstock never belonged to Dentsu, so they don’t have a right to cancel it. Woodstock belongs to the people and it always will.” Lang is promising to bring on new partners. Jay-Z, Dead and Company, The Killers and Miley Cyrus are among the acts scheduled to play the festival, set for Aug. 16-19 in Watkins Glen, New York. Tickets were supposed to go on sale last week but still are not available.

NIPSEY HUSSLE MURAL IS PAINTED OVER

HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) — Police in Hartford, Connecticut, say they will not make any arrests after a woman painted over a mural of Nipsey Hussle at a skate park. Police Lt. Paul Cicero tells The Hartford Courant the park is a safe haven for graffiti artists, and there’s nothing illegal about painting over someone else’s work. Hussle fans were upset after an unidentified woman was filmed spray-painting cherries on the mural on Saturday. It was painted last month by local artist Corey Pane, who said he wanted to honor Hussle’s memory. By Monday, three people had worked to fix the mural.

He says he’s often thought about making a video singing upside down that way.
