Ruby M. Genrich
Ruby M. Genrich, 94, of Beatrice, died in Lincoln on Wednesday, August 22, 2018. She was born on January 20, 1924, at Farnam, Nebraska, and was baptized in February of 1924 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church of Farnam. She moved to Beatrice as a small child, graduated from Beatrice High School in 1942 and was married to Herman Genrich on May 5, 1946, at the St. John Lutheran Church of Beatrice lived in Beatrice all of her life. She worked as a supervisor for resident records at the Beatrice State Developmental Center for 24 years, retiring in 1986. She was the oldest girl of 9 children and learned early in life the meaning of working hard and caring for others. She was generous with her time and volunteered many hours to support military veterans including putting out flags on veterans’ graves and selling poppies to support the sacrifices made by military personnel. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Unit #27 and a past president of the VFW Auxiliary both of Beatrice. For several years, Ruby volunteered to drive veterans to the VA Hospital in Lincoln for their care. She was a member of the St. John Lutheran Church of Beatrice and was on the Social Action Committee and Sponsor of Luther League Advisory Board. She was also active in volunteer work at the St. John’s Community Food Pantry. Ruby was a past member of Hidden Acres Golf Course and enjoyed playing golf, bowling, ballroom dancing, snow skiing, fishing and supporting the Huskers.
Survivors include her three sons, Dr. Charles Genrich and his wife Mary Ann, Terry Genrich and his wife Barb, Jerry Genrich and his wife Sandi all of Lincoln; ten grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren; brother Gerald Lampe and his wife Janice of Beatrice; two sisters, Shirley Tarnowski and her husband Joe of Franklin, WI and Janice Edeal and husband, Larry McKee of Beatrice; three sisters-in-law, Virginia Lampe of Harrington, Kansas, Lois Lampe of Beatrice and Lois Lampe of Colorado; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by husband Herman Genrich, her parents Arnold and Margarete Brouillette Lampe; six Brothers Alvin Lampe, George Lampe, Carl Lampe, Don Lampe, Richard Lampe and James Lampe and one infant sister; sisters-in-law Eddie Lampe, Ruth Lampe, Jenny Lampe and brother-in-law, Jerry Edeal.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 25, 2018, at 10:30 a.m. at the St. John Lutheran Church of Beatrice with Pastor Greg Gabriel and Leah Lawson officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Home Cemetery of Beatrice. A family prayer service will be held at 10:15 a.m. in the chapel of the church on Saturday. The body will lie in state at the Fox Funeral Home of Beatrice from noon Thursday until 9 p.m. Friday and at the church on Saturday. The family will meet and greet friends and family on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until 10:15 a.m. in the fellowship hall of the church.
