Undated (AP) _ Festive, ridden by Pat Day, came from off the pace to score a 5 1/4 -length victory in the $27,000 Impressive Purse Thursday at Belmont Park.
The victory in the race for 3-year-olds and up was the first in four starts this year for Festive.
He carried 109 pounds over the seven furlongs in 1:23 4-5 on a fast track. The 3-year-old colt earned $16,200 for owner William Haggin Perry.
Festive paid $4.80, $4 and $2.80.
Greg At Bat, 111, paid $13.20 and $4.60 while Superb Flight, 112, was $3.40 to show.
Colonial Waters took command at the top of the stretch and cruised to a four-length victory over seven rivals in the $17,000 allowance feature at Monmouth Park.
Colonial Waters, ridden by Julie Krone, covered the mile in 1:37 1-5 to return $3, $2.40 and $2.20.
Lotus Spring finished second to pay $3.20 and $2.60. Third-place Peggy Slew returned $2.60 to show.
Hay Halo rallied from last in a field of eight to capture the $28,000 Mate Purse at Pimlico Race Course.
Maryland’s 2-year-old champion of 1986 charged down the center of the turf course with jockey Vince Bracciale to edge Learned Jake by a nose, covering the 1 1-16 miles in 1:43.
Kossuth Cake finished another nose back in third.
Hay Halo, a half-brother to all-time money winning Maryland-bred Broad Brush, paid $15, $6 and $3.20 for his first victory on grass.
Learned Jake paid $5.20 and $3.20 and Kossuth Cake was worth $4.20 to show.
Blades Lady Native passed favored Jonowo just inside the eighth pole and drew away for a three-length victory in the $34,100 Likely Exchange allowance at Churchill Downs.
Blades Lady Native, ridden by Larry Melancon, covered the mile on the firm turf in 1:40 3-5 and paid $16.40, $4.20 and $3. Jonowo, with Mike McDowell up, returned $3.60 and $3, while second favorite My Girl Val, another three- quarters back under Jim McKnight, paid $2.60 to show.
Masterful Advocate, winless in his previous 10 starts spanning more than 15 months, took the lead around the far turn and drew off for a sixth-length victory in the $55,000 feature race Hollywood Park.
Ridden at 115 pounds by Aaron Gryder, favored Masterful Advocate covered the 1 1-16 miles in 1:41 3-5 and returned $6.60, $3.40 and $2.60. Masterful Advocate’s last victory was in the San Rafael Stakes at Santa Anita on March 7, 1987.
Masterful Advocate won $30,250, increasing his earnings to $650,775 in 19 starts.
Stylish Winner, with Gary Stevens and 117 pounds, finished second and returned $3.60 and $2.60. Red Attack, with Chris McCarron and 115 pounds, was a head back in third and paid $2.80 to show.
