Waterloo boys notch first conference win: East Troy fends off Eagles

WATERLOO — Senior guard Aaron Brey led all scorers with 24 points as Waterloo’s boys basketball team earned its first Capitol South win of the season 70-61 over Belleville on Friday.

Waterloo (2-15, 1-5 in conference) won both halves. Junior forward EJ Jiles added 10 points and junior forward Chase Bostwick added 12 for the Pirates.

Senior Austin Fahey led Belleville (7-8, 2-4) with 17 points..

JEFFERSON 54

JEFFERSON — Junior AJ Vukovich poured in 27 points to lift the visiting East Troy boys basketball team past Jefferson 59-54 in a battle of the Rock Valley’s top two teams on Friday night.

Senior Ryan Brost totaled 14 points and Caleb Stelse and James Monogue each finished with 10 for the Eagles (13-4, 10-3 RVC).

East Troy (14-1, 12-0) grabbed a 36-29 halftime lead and secured the victory when Jefferson missed a pair of free throws with 12 seconds to play.

The Trojans led wire-to-wire and Michael Polakoski notched 20 points.

Cory Kaiser supplied eight points and Ben Sukow added five for Jefferson.

Jefferson continues RVC play today at Walworth Big Foot at 7:15 p.m.

Jefferson travels to face Evansville today at 7:15 p.m.
