POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. (AP) _ Danny Basile’s 29 points led seven Marist players in double figures to help offset a 46-point, 14-rebound performance by Long Island University’s Joe Griffin in Marist’s 128-98 victory Thursday night.

The 128 points by Marist broke the school and Northeast Conference single-game scoring records.

The Red Foxes (15-7, 11-3 NEC) jumped to an early 31-12 lead over LIU (8-14, 6-9) with 10:44 remaining in the first half. Marist, shooting 62.5 percent from the field in the first half, took a 67-37 halftime when Dexter Dunbar hit a 3-pointer at the buzzer.

Basile’s two free throws with 13:16 left in the game gave Marist a 91-53 lead. He finished 7-for-13 from 3-point range.

Dunbar finished with 22 points, Joe Taylor had 17 points, Kareem Hill added 15, and Alan Tomady, Gregg Chodkowski and Bryan White each chipped in 11.

Griffin, a senior forward, hit 17 of 29 field goal attempts and was 12-for-16 from the free-throw line.

LIU’s Shawn Browne had 18 points coming off the bench, and freshman reserve guard Corey Goodall added 14 points.
