CNBC: Amazon bids for Fox networks
Amazon is among the bidders to take over regional Fox sports networks being acquired by ESPN owner Walt Disney, according to CNBC, as well as the YES Network which operates a studio in Stamford.
CNBC reported the New York Yankees are also said to be interested in reacquiring control of YES, which was created in 2001 to carry games and other programs, with the Yankees selling a major stake in 2012 to 21st Century Fox owner News Corp.
Disney, which controls Bristol-based ESPN with Hearst Corp. a minority shareholder, has stated its intention to sell the Fox sports networks, with CNBC citing unnamed sources identifying Apollo Global Management, Blackstone Group, KKR and Sinclair among other bidders.
