State Historical Preservation Office employee visiting Berlin
Elizabeth Shultz, cultural resources GIS specialist and above ground survey coordinator for the Pennsylvania State Historic Preservation Office, will be at the Berlin Borough office on Thursday to review materials of historical interest gathered for the borough and give direction to those who are preparing for an overall preservation plan.
She will assist those attending to help accumulate new historical data and provide helpful comments and suggestions for gathering additional historical items of interest such as original deeds, plot maps and historical references. Historic preservation plans include inventories of existing historic sites and properties that have the potential to qualify as historic, as well as an assessment of how local regulations are aligned with preservation.
Shultz will schedule times to train individuals how to prepare inventories of existing historic sites and properties that have the potential to qualify as historic. Interested individuals and groups are to meet in the borough office at 1 p.m.
