Flyers’ Brind’Amour Out 3-6 Weeks

October 9, 1999

PHILADELPHIA (AP) _ Philadelphia Flyers center Rod Brind’Amour has a second hairline fracture in his left foot and will be out for three to six weeks.

The second fracture was discovered in an X-ray at Pennsylvania Hospital Thursday while doctors were checking the recovery of his other fracture.

``It’s not uncommon for X-rays to initially not show fractures, especially in the feet,″ Dr. Arthur Bartolozzi said.

Brind’Amour was resting at home Friday and was not in much pain, Bartolozzi said. He had practiced with the team Wednesday, and said he hoped to play in Saturday’s game against Boston.

Brind’Amour was placed on injured reserve Oct. 2, ending the longest consecutive-game streak in the NHL. He did not play in the Flyers’ first two regular season games _ both losses.

Brind’Amour, who has played in 484 straight regular-season games, suffered a hairline fracture on Sept. 25 during the first period of the Flyers’ 4-2 exhibition loss at New Jersey.

Brind’Amour had not missed a game since Feb. 22, 1993, when a hand injury kept him out of a game against Detroit.
