Drexel 78, Vermont 59
BURLINGTON, Vt. (AP) _ Chuck Guittar scored a career-high 34 points and added 16 rebounds as Drexel closed the regular season with a 78-59 victory over Vermont on Saturday.
Drexel (20-7 overall, 15-2 America East) has won at least 20 games in each of the last five seasons. It could finish first or second, depending on Sunday’s Boston University-Maine game, before the conference playoffs begin next weekend.
The Dragons raced to a 46-32 halftime lead by hitting 19 of 28 field shots, including Guittar’s nine of 10 for 19 points. A 10-4 run to open the second half put the game away.
Vermont (14-12, 7-11) was led by Craig Peper’s 12 points, but shot only 31 percent from the field to Drexel’s overall 53 percent.
