Body found in burned out car in Livingston County

PONTIAC — The Livingston County Coroner’s Office is attempting to identify a body found in a burned out car that crashed into a guard rail.

Coroner Danny Watson said at approximately 10:09 a.m. on Monday, a passerby reported a burned out 2003 Buick crashed onto a guard rail at 3225E Road and 1000N Road north of Chatsworth.

The fire had burned out some time during the night, Watson said.

The driver of the car was burned beyond recognition. An autopsy will be performed and positive identification will be made by using dental records or DNA.

The accident remains under investigation.
