KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) _ Boston Red Sox center fielder Johnny Damon didn’t sustain a break in his left hand, X-rays revealed Saturday.
Damon was struck on the left middle finger while trying to bunt in the sixth inning Friday against the Kansas City Royals. Damon remained in the game and hit two singles, raising his average to .304, and stole a base.
``It’s just bruised and swollen,″ Damon said. ``I felt pretty confident it wasn’t broke. Everything checked out fine.″
Damon was not in the Red Sox lineup Saturday, but the game was rained out.
``I do expect him back in there tomorrow,″ Red Sox manager Grady Little said.
