Turks, Germans Hurt In Two Arson Fires
SAARBRUECKEN, Germany (AP) _ Arsonists set fire to two apartment buildings occupied by more than 30 Turks and Germans early Wednesday, police said, injuring three Turks and two Germans.
Right-wing radicals have carried out more than 1,500 acts of violence this year, mostly against foreigners. It was not known who set the latest fires.
Three Turks and two Germans suffered smoke inhalation, said Werner Ulbrich, police spokesman in this city near the French border.
The arsonists pushed open the cellar windows of two apartment buildings and crawled inside to start the fires. Firefighters put out the flames before they could spread.
Ulbrich said evidence was found indicating arsonists tried to start a fire in a third building in the same neighborhood.
