HOMELESS IN MINNEAPOLIS
MINNEAPOLIS — When a disturbed woman pulled a knife on Denise Deer earlier this month, she quickly herded her children into their tent. A nearby man stepped in and the woman was arrested, and within minutes, 8-year-old Shilo and 4-year-old Koda were back outside sitting on a sidewalk, playing with a train set and gobbling treats delivered by volunteers. BISMARCK, N.D. — The American Indian tribe that’s led opposition to the Dakota Access oil pipeline has formally pledged support for protests against three other pipeline projects. The Standing Rock Sioux Council this month unanimously approved resolutions supporting efforts by other tribes to oppose the Enbridge Line 3 project in Minnesota, the Keystone XL pipeline in Montana and South Dakota, and the Bayou Bridge pipeline in Louisiana. TRAVERSE CITY, Mich. — Officials have relocated two gray wolves from the mainland to Isle Royale National Park, kicking off a multi-year effort to restore the predator species on the Lake Superior island chain.
