JOHN DINGELL

DEARBORN, Mich. _ A public visitation will be held in Michigan to honor John Dingell, the longest-serving member of Congress in history, who died last week at age 92. The visitation will be Monday at Ford Community and Performing Arts Center in his hometown of Dearborn, a Detroit suburb. SENT: 160 words.

FOREVER CHEMICALS-EMERGING THREAT

WASHINGTON _ The chemical compounds are all around you. They’re on many fabrics, rugs and carpets, cooking pots and pans, outdoor gear, shampoo, shaving cream, makeup and even dental floss. Increasing numbers of states have found them seeping into water supplies. Unsurprisingly, the chemicals have turned up in a variety of wildlife species, including fish, bald eagles and mink. Michigan agencies plan to sample a variety of wild game, such as ducks and other waterfowl, for the chemicals. They already test fish and deer. By Ellen Knickmeyer, Michael Casey and John Flesher. _ GAS PRICES-MICHIGAN: AAA Michigan says average gas prices statewide are up about 14 cents from a week ago to about $2.29 per gallon.

_ POLICE SHOOTING: A man accused of shooting dozens of times at a Tennessee police officer has been arrested in Detroit.

_ YOUTH EDUCATION FUNDING-DETROIT: A Detroit-based nonprofit has been awarded $400,000 by the McGregor Fund to educate and train young people between the ages of 16 and 24.
