LEE (26-3-1) finished No. 9 after advancing to the UIL Class 6A final before losing to Flower Mound 1-0 on penalty kicks. Central Catholic (15-4-1) finished No. 32 after winning its third straight TAPPS Division I state title.100: Victories for Alamo Heights baseball coach Jason Thompson during his five-year stint at the school. Thompson, who guided the Mules to the UIL Class 5A state final in 2016, reached the mark with Alamo Heights’ 11-1 win over Edison on April 12.150: Wins for Steele baseball coach David Smith in his 11-year tenure at the school. Smith accomplished the feat with a 4-2 triumph over East Central on April 18.250: Wins for Boerne Champion baseball coach Chuck Foster during his 11 years at the school. Foster got there with the Chargers’ 4-0 victory over McCollum on April 12.300: Career wins for 11th-year Southwest softball coach Sandra Hernandez, who reached the milestone with the Dragons’ 11-0 triumph over Alamo Heights in Game 1 of a Class 5A bidistrict series April 25. Hernandez was the Express-News coach of the year in 2014 after leading her alma mater to its first UIL state tournament appearance.
