Jury Convicts Scranton Man On Drug, Weapons Charges

December 5, 2018

SCRANTON — A Lackawanna County Court jury convicted a Scranton man on drug and weapons charges today.

Raymond L. Diaz, 33, was found guilty on multiple felony and misdemeanor counts, including possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance and possession of a firearm prohibited, after a three-day trial before Judge Andy Jarbola.

Investigators arrested Diaz in August 2017 after a search of the North Hyde Park Avenue apartment where he was staying — and where police say they made earlier undercover drug buys — found 25 grams of cocaine, along with two grams of crack and a revolver.

Diaz was barred from possessing the gun because of a prior felony conviction.

He remains in prison while awaiting sentencing.
