Couple: Robbed after invitation
After they were robbed at gunpoint, the man and woman told police they were pretty sure they were invited to the house so the men could rob them.
Gage Workman, 18, of the 300 block of Pursley Drive, was identified as the man who invited the couple over Sunday afternoon. Robert Earl Martin, also 18, of the 900 block of Colerick Street, was named as one of two who emerged from a back room, pointing a handgun at them, according to court documents. The other alleged robber was not named and taken to Allen County Juvenile Center.
The couple said they no sooner sat down with Workman when the others suddenly appeared pointing their guns at them. Martin had covered his face with a shirt and was “constantly squinting,” the woman said. She identified the juvenile by his first name, documents said.
The man’s iPhone and $290 in cash and the woman’s bright pink shirt and silver chain necklace were taken. After the two were robbed, they were told to get out of the house. They called police at 3:35 p.m.
Police tracked Workman to his Pursley Drive address where the two others were also found, documents said.
Workman and Martin were charged Monday with two counts of armed robbery. They were released on their own recognizance. Their court hearings are scheduled for 9 a.m. Thursday.
