Man, two juveniles used BB gun to rob woman at Willoughby condominium

WILLOUGHBY, Ohio — A man and two juveniles are facing charges after they robbed and kidnapped a woman with a BB gun Wednesday night near a Willoughby condominium, police said.

Andre George, 19, and two 17-year-olds are charged with robbery and kidnapping after they stole a 29-year-old woman’s purse at gunpoint just before 10 p.m. in the area of Euclid Avenue and Franklin Commons Condominium complex, Willoughby police said.

Cleveland.com does not name juvenile criminal suspects unless they’re charged as adults.

The woman told police she was walking down Euclid Avenue on her way to work when she was approached by two men from behind on foot, police said. One of the males grabbed the woman’s arms, held them to her side and forced her into the condo complex as the other man held a black handgun, police said.

The males forced the woman down a driveway toward a condo storage shed and pushed her against a wall and demanded her money. The woman said she didn’t have any money, police said. The two males emptied her purse and stole her wallet and ran away from the complex, police said.

The woman had about $10 in her wallet, Willoughby police Lt. James Schultz said.

A witness later called Wickliffe police and said they saw the two males running in the area of Harding Drive and Empire Drive. Willoughby detectives noticed a vehicle leaving Empire Drive and conducted a traffic stop.

George, who was driving the vehicle, and the two juveniles were arrested and later charged.

Officers found a black BB gun shoved inside a shoe.

The 17-year-olds were being held at the Lake County Juvenile Detention.

George was scheduled to appeared in Willoughby Municipal Court Thursday morning for an arraignment. He’s also scheduled for a preliminary hearing Aug. 30, online court records show.

Records did not list a bond or an attorney for George.
