Olympic Bobsledder Hurt in Crash
STOCKTON, Iowa (AP) _ A member of the Taiwanese bobsledding team was in critical condition Wednesday after an auto accident.
Chia-chan Steven Lee, 33, who lives in Lake Forest, Ill., was the passenger in a car driven by Samuel Hwang, 28, of LaPorte, Ind.
Hwang lost control of their pickup on Tuesday, went across the median and collided with a semi-trailer driven by Boriss Godunovs, 27, of Canada.
Hwang was released from the Genesis Medical Center-East Campus in Davenport on Tuesday. Lee remained in critical condition Wednesday, hospital spokeswoman Kathy Horrell said.
Godunovs was not injured, the patrol report said.
Lee was the fifth man on the four-man bobsledding team, so he did not compete. The team placed last among the 29 teams that completed the race without disqualification.
Lee, born in Taiwan,lives in Lake Forest with his wife, Susan.
