ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) _ Skip Victor's steal and layup with 14 seconds left lifted Navy to a 56-54 victory Wednesday over Colgate.

Victor's steal, his fourth of the game, was one of three for Navy (16-4, 5-1) in the final 62 seconds. Chris Williams converted a pair of free throws at 1:01 after his steal. They tied the score and gave Williams a team-high 14 points.

Colgate (10-10, 4-2), which had taken a 54-50 lead on a layin by Jordan Harris at 1:47, did not get off another shot until Mike Tilley launched a pair of 3-point tries in the final five seconds.

The Red Raiders erased an early 9-2 deficit to tie the score at 13-13 with nine minutes left in the first half, then built a 25-21 lead before settling for a 29-29 halftime tie. Colgate then built a 37-31 lead on Harris basket with 17:04 left to play.

Colgate still led by five, 48-43, with eight minutes left. Navy had made only 18-of-57 shots to that point, but hit four-of-eight the rest of the way.

Sitapha Savane, who finished with 12 points and eight rebounds, hit a pair of free throws at 7:55 to cut the lead to 48-45, and after a five-point flurry by Josh Williams _ his only points of the night _ Navy trailed 52-50 at 4:15. Neither team scored again until Harris got Colgate's final points.

Victor finished with 13 points, including a jumper at 1:28 that began Navy's late comeback. Pat Campolieta led Colgate with 16 points, though he was shutout over the last 11 minutes.
