Sycamore leaf pick-up to begin next week
SYCAMORE – The city’s leaf pick-up program will start Monday, according to public works officials.
Pick up days for the city section south of DeKalb Avenue and east of South Cross Street are scheduled for Monday through Oct. 19, Oct. 29 through Nov. 2, Nov. 12 through 16, and Nov 26 through 30, according to a news release. The pick-up days for the rest of the city are scheduled for Oct. 22 through 26, Nov. 5 through 9, and Nov. 19 through 21.
Public works officials said in the release they urge residents to rake early and often in case the program comes to an early end upon snowfall. Leaves need to be raked out on the parkway as close as possible to the back edge of the street curb, but leaves should not be raked into the street to avoid safety problems with traffic and flooding, the release said.
Between Dec. 1 and 16, leaves can be brought to the public works facility, 475 North Cross Street, and placed in a dumpster. Leaves must be in Kraft paper bags, the release said.
